Ian Van Dahl is not the stage name of the singer, Annemie Coenen, but of a trance-oriented music group during the Eurodance era. The music is composed and produced by Dj Peters Luts who started as a DJ before the rest. His inuences are taken from Jean Michel Jarre and Depeche Mode. He has transcribed these inuences in different pieces notably with ” Nights On Java ” present in the album ACE.

We are going to rely on this artist given her importance in the heyday of the group. At the same time, it should be pointed out that it would be wrong to qualify the band as Ian Van Dahl at the moment. Indeed, since 2007, the name has changed to Annagrace. Like many important Trance groups, Ian Van Dahl is of Belgian nationality as is the group. This is the case for Lasgo, Sylver, Milk Inc. At that time, the samples were redundant and similar despite the presence of many different Eurotrance bands on the Belgian territory. One of the main reasons is the fact that the composers behind some bands initiated other movements later on. This is the case of Christophe Chantzis who is part of the group and who was previously part of the Absolom and Astroline projects. Castles in the Sky and Will I are among Ian Van Dahl’s best known tracks. Different labels have joined: Sinuz (during the Annagrace period), EMI Group (which has labelled the greatest British artists: The Beatles, Queen, David Bowie), Kontor Records (German-based record company touring mainly on Trance supporting artists such as ATB, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto). Coming back to Annemie Coenen, we know that at the age of 7 she already won her first prize at the Sound mix & Playback show. Erik Vanspauwen, for his part, was not at all destined to meet the path of Ian Van Dahl or even that of music. He was passionate about comics and animation lms as a young man. It’s by listening for the first time to the track ” New Gold Dreams ” by Simple Minds that he got the trigger.

I can't let you go.

Castles in the sky.
